What’s My Self-Care even Look Like?

“If I'm an advocate for anything, it's to move. As far as you can, as much as you can. Across the ocean, or simply across the river. The extent to which you can walk in someone else's shoes or at least eat their food, it's a plus for everybody. Open your mind, get up off the couch, move.” - Anthony Bourdain

Not everything has to be complicated. But it feels like it is. Whether that’s picking a restaurant that everyone is going to enjoy, running errands, making a grocery list, tackling what’s on this weeks agenda, working your fingers to the bone – life has just gotten bogged down with more going on. It’s hard to remind yourself what a pause looks like. What do I need to do? Do I need to just vent to my closest friends? Go for a long run to clear my mind? Lay on the couch watching mindless tv? Or let loose and go out for drinks? Choosing that right form of “self-care” matters.

Because these pauses aren’t just a break from life — they’re a chance to reconnect with yourself. To notice the small joys: the warmth of the morning sun on your skin, the sound of laughter over a glass of wine, the rhythm of your feet hitting the pavement during a run. These moments, however fleeting, are the ones that remind us why we do everything else — why we work hard, chase goals, and strive for balance.

Movement, connection, indulgence, and reflection — they don’t need to be grand or perfectly scheduled. A conversation over food, a shared laugh, a spontaneous walk in a new neighborhood — these are the moments that make life feel rich. That give you energy to step back into the chaos, grounded, and ready to enjoy it fully.

It’s not just about escaping — it’s about noticing, savoring, and embracing the little things that make life worth living.
